How to Wash Menvault Underwear

The Basics

Your Menvault boxer briefs aren't regular underwear. They've got a multi-layer absorbent system, bamboo, polyester, all working together to lock away moisture. That technology needs a little respect in the wash.

* Please note, these instructions are also suitable for our Washable Guard.

Here’s the routine:

Turn them inside out. This protects the absorbent layers.

Set your washer to warm water — 30°C (86°F). Gentle or normal cycle.

Use mild detergent. Nothing harsh. No heavy fragrances. No built-in fabric softener.

Good choices:

  • All Free Clear

  • Tide Free & Gentle

  • Persil Sensitive Skin

  • Seventh Generation Free & Clear

  • Any “Free & Clear” or baby detergent

Liquid works better than powder. It dissolves completely in warm water.

The Golden Rule: No Fabric Softener

This is critical.

Fabric softener coats fabric fibers. When you coat the absorbent layers, they can't do their job. The moisture can't get pulled in and locked away.

Same goes for dryer sheets. Skip them both.

What NOT to Do

❌ No bleach (destroys absorbent layers)
❌ No tumble drying (heat breaks down elastic and fabrics)
❌ No ironing (heat damages materials)
❌ No dry cleaning (unnecessary and harmful)

Drying: Keep It Simple

Hang them up or lay them flat. Air dry. That’s it.

Got a sunny day? Hang them outside. UV rays kill bacteria and eliminate odors naturally.

Make sure they're completely dry before wearing. Damp fabric means bacteria growth.

Pro Tips That Actually Work

Use a mesh washing bag.
Protects the elastic and seams. Makes them last way longer. Any lingerie bag works.

Wash after every use.
Better hygiene. Longer life. Less odor buildup.

The vinegar trick.
Add half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. Neutralizes ammonia smell. Kills bacteria. Doesn't damage absorbency like fabric softener does. The vinegar smell disappears when they dry.

Rinse immediately if possible.
Had a heavier leak and can’t wash right away? Quick cold-water rinse in the sink. Flushes out urine before bacteria develops. Then toss in the hamper.

Why This Matters

You bought these because you needed something that works. Something that lets you live your life without constantly worrying.

These care instructions protect that investment.

With proper care, each pair lasts up to 3 years. That’s thousands of disposables you won’t buy. Won’t throw away. Won’t feel embarrassed about.

The bamboo naturally resists bacteria. The absorbent system handles whatever your day brings. But fabric softener, high heat, and harsh chemicals break down the technology.

Treat them right. They’ll keep treating you right.
